Please note that a number of details are still being finalised (marked with a *). To stay up to date with our upcoming events, we recommend you sign up for our events calendar.

Open Events

  • Weekly Pizza Socials (open to all!) - every Wednesday, 7pm - come along for an informal chat about AI safety and OAISI, meet other people interested in risks from AI, and maybe play some casual board games. If you don’t know where to start, we recommend attending this and trying to chat with some OAISI members!

  • OAISI Policy Seminars (open to all!) - alternate Thursdays (odd weeks), 5-6pm Christ Church Lecture Room 1. These are meant to be accessible to a general audience and focus on a broad range of risks from advanced AI (not just global catastrophic risk). Subscribe to our events calendar on Luma to stay up to date and to register.

  • EA Oxford X OAISI Priorities Debate: Week 7, Tuesday, 3rd March. Place and time TBD.

Recurring Programmes (by application)

  • Projects: A weekly group for work on ongoing (research) projects in AI safety, policy and related fields. OAISI can provide a coworking venue, food, API keys and informal mentorship. Feel free to drop into our next session (on our events calendar), and apply for project support via this form.

  • Roundtables:

    • Technical: A regular meeting for technical AI safety researchers for members to present and get feedback on their research, held weekly on Mondays at 5:00 pm. Applications are rolling. Apply here.

    • Governance: A regular meeting/reading group for OAISI members interested in AI policy and governance to learn more about the field. Meets alternate Tuesdays, 5:00 pm. Applications are rolling. Apply here.

  • OAISI Fellowship:

    • Core Track: A 6-week programme that introduces curious and motivated students to the fundamental concepts in AI safety, followed by an optional pizza social. Applications have now closed, but feel free to reach out to us directly if you’d like to be considered for late acceptance!

    • Technical Agendas Track: A 6-week programme run in parallel to the core track, where participants with good AI safety context dive into technical AI safety research agendas in depth, followed by an optional pizza social. Applications have now closed.

Go to our get involved page to book 1-1 sessions with our committee to chat about AI safety, OAISI, and how you can get involved.
